The Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with the Central Bank of Oman, convened a series of introductory workshops today on domestic government financial instruments. The sessions were held for a group of employees from Bank Nizwa and Oman Arab Bank, with the objective of strengthening institutional awareness of the importance of investing in these instruments and highlighting their role in supporting and advancing the development of the domestic debt market.

The workshops provided an overview of the principal domestic government financial instruments and their key features, including Government Development Bonds, domestic sovereign Sukuk, and Treasury Bills. Participants were briefed on the contribution of these instruments to effective liquidity management, portfolio diversification, and the enhancement of efficiency within the domestic debt market. The sessions also covered bidding, subscription, and investment mechanisms, in addition to presenting the approved annual issuance plan for 2026.

These workshops form part of ongoing efforts to elevate awareness of government financial instruments and to encourage greater participation by financial institutions in the domestic market. The initiative aims to contribute to the development of the debt market and to broaden the range of available investment and financing channels.
